CDC Double-Disc Assembly
Double-Disc Assembly - Continental Disc Corporation
Use a double-disc assembly to simplify your piping arrangements, eliminate back pressure, detect leaks or create an actuated rapid-opening system.
Three holder components (inlet, mid-flange and outlet piece) and two rupture discs make up the double-disc assembly. The first rupture disc fits between the inlet and the mid-flange, and the second goes between the mid-flange and outlet.
CDC Double-Disc Assembly Features:
- Rupture disc leak detection
A double-disc assembly is ideal when working with toxic, extremely corrosive or very valuable contents. If the process-exposed rupture disc leaks, a pressure gauge in the mid-flange would indicate the leak while the second rupture disc maintains the system leak-free. You’re then free to replace the first rupture disc – no emergency situation necessary. - Actuated rapid-opening device
Create a quick-opening device by pressurizing the space between the two rupture discs in a double-disc assembly. Upon dumping the pressure between the two rupture discs, full open area is obtained within a few milliseconds. A double-disc assembly pressurized as a quick-opening device can activate pressure systems and/or test them for sudden pressure changes. - Elimination of back pressure
The second rupture disc withstands the system back pressure, isolating the first disc. Any change in pressure differential across the first rupture disc induced by back pressure is eliminated, and it will rupture at its rated burst pressure. The second rupture disc may be rated at a lower burst pressure to compensate for the maximum back pressure that may coincide with a burst condition. - HPX, UNISERT, LOTRX, 7I and RCS holders are all available in Double-disc holder designs.
